or you could probably just login, kill kwin, launch pekwm and logout with a saved session (though I'm not a KDE user, so i'm not sure exactly HOW to save the session.)

You should have .gtkrc-2.0.kde in your home folder. Edit .gtkrc-2.0 and copy the file from .gtkrc-2.0.kde. And then start pekwm. I'm not sure it if works, but it works for me. Let me know if it works for you.
