What terminal do you use?

You can get the same conky config at gnome-org [link] I think the terminal is urxvt or xfce terminal. I'm not sure. They are pretty similar.

is there anything special I need to do to load the style? I'm using 1.0rc1 and all it's doing when I select mire is loading a really light white theme.
